At the National Park Center Falkenstein in the National Park Bavarian Forest near Ludwigsthal you can visit the visitor centre "Haus zur Wildnis" and the animal enclosures with the look-out and the stone age cave is barrier-free and an ideal destination for the whole family. Enjoy culinary delicacies from the region in the certified organic restaurant.

A comfortable, 2,5 km loop road leads you through the generous animal enclosures to the Information Center Haus zur Wildnis that informs its visitors about the National Parks Bavarian Forest and Šumava as well as the surrounding region on both sides of the border. Watch the lynx family, howling wolves pack, the peacefully grazing wild horses and the aurochs in the three enclosures shaped close to nature.

There is also a charging station for e Bikes in the National Park Centre Falkenstein.

The visitor centre Haus zur Wildnis and the animal enclosures (2,5km loop road) with stone age cave were certified according to the criteria of the nationwide mark "Travelling for everybody" and are entitled to have the certification "Barrier free proofed".

NationalparkWelten at the boarder station

In the NaturparkWelten you can get information on the National Park Bavarian Forest and Šumava, the area of outstanding natural beauty Šumava and the Nature Park Bavarian Forest. In addition, you can find on five floors a European Bat Centre, the exhibition "King Arber", an Eastern Bavarian ski museum and an exhibition and installing on the history of the railway.

Großer Arber

The "Großer Arber" gets with its 1456 m to the climatic forest line as the only summit of the Bavarian-Bohemian border massive. Therefore, the highest mountain in the ARBERLAND is closer to the sky than to the earth.
