Theatre and Pageants in ArberLand

Theatre in the Bavarian Forest – a colourful spectacle: In ArberLand there are 23 amateur theatrical groups with more than 550 active performers. Their repertoire includes depictions of agricultural life, Ludwig Thoma plays, classics in Bavarian dialect, light comedies and plays they have written themselves depicting local life.

Like all Bavarians, foresters love the theatre. Numerous groups perform at specific times of the year, such as Easter or Christmas but plays are put on right through the year.

These performances show surprising originality, beautiful dialect, great talent and real flair!

These pageants, in which legions of locals usually take part, are put on in 3 villages: "Gunther-Festspiele" in Rinchnach, "Der überlistete Tod" in Schweinhütt near Regen and the "Burgfeststpiele" in Neunußberg near Viechtach.
