The „National Park Information Center Falkenstein“ in the Bavarian Forest National Park

Wilderness in the animal enclosures. Anyone who wants to meet a lynx, wolf, wild horse or ancient ox visits the National Park Information Centre Falkenstein in Ludwigsthal. Other highlights, all free of charge are: the ‚Root Path’, Stone Age Caves and Outlook Tower.

In the oldest National Park in Germany, nature is allowed to develop as it will and make areas of wilderness. This unique development is depicted at the "Haus zur Wildnis" – virtually and quite real, on a 3-D trip in the cinema and in various exhibitions.

Smell and Feel on the Root Path
The Root Path takes you on a journey of discovery through the earth. Hear, smell, taste, feel and be amazed: A visit to the „Haus zur Wildnis“ appeals not only to those hungry for knowledge but to all the senses.

The animal enclosures complete the experience. An easy path passes by the natural enclosures of the lynx, wolf, wild horse and ancient ox.

In the Stone Age Cave and on the Lookout Tower
The 20 meter high lookout tower offers a fantastic 360° view of the wolf enclosure and the Bavarian Forest. And in the stone age cave you can travel back in time as far as the ice age.

Finally, the „Haus zur Wildnis“ restaurant serves regional dishes made from local organic ingredients and the perfect souvenir can be found in the gift shop.
