Getting to know the Bavarian Forest on 2 wheels is just as easy on a sporting mountain bike as more gently on a town bike. Cyclists will find many kilometers of cycle routes of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty in the Bavarian Forest.
The high point of any cycling tour has to be the 140 kilometre National Park Cycle Route. It winds through the whole National Park region to the other side of the Bavarian-Czech border into the idyllic, sparsely populated Bohemian Forest and back again.
Combine Cycling and Walking
Fitness is necessary, for leisure cyclists and for more sporting types. There are many mountain routes in the region which have a good enough surface to be tackled with a touring (town) bike.
The cycle routes bring you close to many of the highlights of the National Park, which can often only be reached by paths for walkers. Anyone who wants to combine a cycling tour with a walk can do this easily at the point where cycle routes and footpaths meet. Your bike can be left safely at the bike stands.
