A Variety of Walks on the Green Roof of Europe

Wandern im Bayerischen Wald
There are 132 mountains more than 1,000 metres high in the Bavarian Forest. And 200 kilometres of paths in the National Park alone: it is no surprise that the area is regarded as a paradise for walkers.

ArberLand lies in the middle of the largest area of forest in central Europe, the green roof of Europe. The region is the most densely forested in Bavaria, in the Bavarian Forest Natural Park and National Park.

Varied Forested Landscape
Endless swathes of forest, mighty mountain ranges, with wisps of cloud above in the blue sky – outdoor lovers on well marked walking and hiking trails can experience the many facets of the Bavarian Forest.

Whether you
•    meander through the forest,
•    test your strength touring the mountain tops,
•    prefer culture trails,
•    get know our neighbours: Czech Republic and Austria,
•    climb to the ancient lakes and granite peaks,
•    search for traces of glassmaking
•    prefer a romantic walk lit by torches or lanterns.

When walking through the Bavarian Forest you can forget the stresses of everyday life, breathe deep, enjoy unspoilt nature and walk as far as your legs can carry you.
