The market town of Teisnach in the
Bavarian Forest Natural Park is an area with plenty of water: as well as the Teisnach stream, the Pfahl, Regen and Flinzbach flow through the area which lies 15 kilometres North West of Regen. The Teisnach parish church of St. Margareta is particularly worth seeing.
The church was built out of granite blocks from the Bavarian Forest in 1900. The beautiful and pure neo-gothic architecture is particularly admired.
With its central position,
Teisnach is a good base for a wide range of excursions. Guests can enjoy the inns, b&bs and private rooms, with all their comforts and good value Bavarian cuisine.
The Teisnach Summer Fest There are also plenty of sport and leisure facilities: guests are spoilt for choice, with the various paths and nature trail or sports such as tennis, fishing, winter and summer curling, cross country skiing, skittles and canoeing on the river Regen. Young guests will be happy in this family friendly village with its many children’s playgrounds.
The Teisnach Summer Fest offers many attractions for residents and guests. It takes place every year on the 2nd weekend in July.
Alternative Programme for Bad Weather When the weather is unfriendly, there is a wide range of folklore and dance evenings, sporting events, garden and forest parties. Wonderful bus excursions can be made to Passau, the Bavarian Forest and Czech Republic; visits can be made to the local Ettl brewery and the Kopf wood carving workshop.
