Drachselsried

This is something you really shouldn’t miss:
for four days in August, locals and guests celebrate the Drachselsried Church Festival, one of the biggest Old Bavarian Church Festivals. And through the rest of the year as well, the people here show you how to have a good time.

Drachselsried is one of the best places to experience Bavarian Forest culture and traditions in their original form. For example, enjoy the folklore and local traditional evenings of the Hochstoaner Oberried association on the village square. Folk dancers, schuhplattler and a band – even the little ones love to join in.

Local plays, guided walks, coffee and cakes, village and brewery tours are all part of the tourist activities of the village. And plenty of sport too: nordic walking, tennis, summer curling, riding , canoeing, cycle hire.

And if the weather doesn’t cooperate then there are visits to exhibitions, schnaps distilleries, museums and glass works in Drachselsried and in the area.

The Zellertal stretches around the village, rising between 530 and 1,280 metres. It is one of the best loved valleys in the Bavarian Forest. Drachselsried and its neighbour Arnbruck are right in the middle. Here, you can breathe in the clean forest air and find peace, relaxation and recuperation.
